Lauren Conklin Johnson

President of the Board, Founder

Lauren Conklin is a creative entrepreneur known for her work as a composer, performer, and business leader in the music industry. She is also a passionate advocate for mental health and a founder of the Mental Health Initiative, a nonprofit organization that seeks to provide resources for people experiencing severe or recurring mental health challenges. In addition to her advocacy work, Lauren has co-founded several businesses including publishing company TurnTable Music, and Skyline Studios, a creative space that provides a collaborative environment for artists and musicians to create and innovate. 


Most known for her work in music, Lauren began her career as a touring strings and utility player and has performed at venues from the Royal Albert Concert Hall to the Grand Ole Opry and on television programs including The Colbert Show, the CMT Awards, and The Today Show. She began composing full time in 2019 after landing her first feature film, “As Real As You Make It”, which is now streaming on Amazon. She has also scored feature film “Abigail”, as well as the winning short from Nashville’s 48 Hour Film Festival, “An Immersive Guide to Pruning”. Her sound combines classical orchestration with world folk influences as she draws upon the musical cultures she visited and studied during her time touring internationally. In addition to scoring films, Lauren has arranged and recorded strings for artists such as Lukas Graham, Russell Dickerson, Kylie Morgan, Skylar Astin, Girl Named Tom, and New Hope Club. 


Lauren is committed to using her talents and resources to make a positive impact in the world. She believes in the power of community and has built supportive and creative groups of people through her businesses and advocacy work.
